About

The Elevate program provides: 

  • A scholarship 
  • Access to events and networking
  • Mentoring  
  • Wellbeing support during scholars’ university studies  

There are three categories of scholarships for the Elevate program. Each scholarship category has a different application form with different criteria for assessment, so please ensure you apply in the correct category.

Undergraduate Scholarship

Up to $30,000 over up to three years. Applicants looking to commence an undergraduate degree such as a Bachelor or Associate degree in an eligible STEM field.  

Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Up to $130,224.50 over up to three and a half years. Applicants looking to commence a postgraduate research degree such as a Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, or Master by Research in an eligible STEM field. Applicants who demonstrate industry collaboration will be prioritised in this category.  

Leadership Scholarship

Up to $70,000 over up to two years. Applicants who have a STEM qualification and are looking to commence a degree to improve business acumen OR applicants looking to commence a Master by Coursework in an eligible STEM field. Applicants who demonstrate leadership capability will be prioritised in this category.

  • Applications open: 12:01am AEST (AEST) 1 May 2024, 
  • Applications close: 5:00pm (AEST) 30 August 2024
  • Assessment period: September and October 2024
  • Scholarships announced: November 2024
  • Scholarships commence: January 2025

 

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants are required to meet all three eligibility criteria:   

  • Identify as a woman or non-binary person 
  • Be enrolling as a domestic student at am Australian University
  • Be planning to undertake a STEM degree OR higher studies to improve business acumen (leadership category only), commencing in 2025  

 ATSE particularly encourages applications from individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; individuals from regional, rural or remote areas; LGBTQIA+; individuals from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds; low-socioeconomic backgrounds; or those living with a disability. Diversity, inclusion, and achievement relative to opportunity will be considered in the assessment and selection process. 

Alternative modes of submission  

ATSE will consider applications via video, interview and other modes.

ATSE is committed to providing inclusive and equitable access to all potential applicants. If for any reason you are unable to submit written responses to the questions in this application form, ATSE will also accept alternative modes of submission. Applicants may prefer to create a video, either of themselves or from images or drawings that they compile. Applicants may also submit applications verbally via an interview with a member of the Elevate team. Applicants must still convey responses to questions as per the application form, as assessors are still required to score applications against a set of three key selection criteria. Guidance from successful applications

ATSE thanks everyone who applies for an Elevate scholarship. Selecting scholars is extremely challenging for our esteemed panel of assessors. ATSE strongly encourages applicants to re-apply in future rounds, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
